Want a unique fall adventure? Get your kicks on the IVI 66! Experience the charm of Illinois’ Route 66 from the best seat in the house – your bicycle! Ride up to 66 miles on and around the historic “Mother Road” between the towns of Gardner, Dwight, and Odell, all to benefit Illinois Valley Industries! This family friendly event is suitable for all levels of riders, and also includes 50, 33, 25, 10, and 5 mile routes. More details to come!

Cost: $66 per rider. All proceeds go to IVI.

Start/Finish Address: Dwight, Illinois (specific address to come)

Parking: Plenty of parking will be available. Please be respectful to the neighbors and don’t park where you shouldn’t!

All routes start and end in Dwight with loops to Gardner to the north and Odell to the south and are along paved, mostly flat roads. All routes are available with turn-by-turn navigation through RideWithGPS (available soon), but all routes will also be marked with signage and pavement arrows. Both loops will be monitored by SAG vehicles.
Each of the three charming towns have Route 66 attractions.

33 miles or 66 miles: Two loops of 33 miles, one from Dwight to Gardner and back, and one from Dwight to Odell and back. You can choose to ride only one of the loops for a pleasant 33-mile ride, or for a bigger challenge ride both loops for 66 miles!

25 miles or 50 miles: Each loop includes shorter 25-mile routes. Ride both to accomplish a lovely 50-mile trip!

10 miles or 20 miles: You can still get your kicks on 66 without having to push yourself to the limit! You can do 10 miles on either loop, or a cumulative 20! Note that these routes do not enter Gardner or Odell.

5 miles: For those participants of different abilities, we also have a breezy tour of Dwight, with stops at several charming locations to soak in the Route 66 vibe!

Check-in: opens 7:00 AM; closes 10:00AM

  • Riders may start any time after check-in, but last riders must be out by 10:30AM
  • Rider should be off routes by 4:00 PM
  • Rest Stops and SAG support available until 3:00 PM
  • Rest Stops: Rest stops and SAG support will be available in the towns of Dwight, Gardner, and Odell. Two additional watering stops will be available on the back road return route from Gardner and Odell.
  • SAG Support: One SAG vehicle apiece will roam each 33 mile route.
  • First Aid: Basic first aid will be available at every rest top and in the SAG vans.
  • Snacks: Because of course! Every rider needs fuel!
  • Bike in good working order.
  • Helmet (MANDATORY).
  • Water bottles or hydration pack.
  • Basic repair kit (spare tube, pump, tire levers).
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses.
  • Appropriate cycling attire (It’s early October so it could be chilly or it could be warm, so layers are recommended).
  • ID, cash/card for any extras.
  • Charged cell phone.

Helmet Policy: All riders MUST WEAR A HELMET!

Rules of the Road: Obey all Illinois cycling and traffic laws. Ride single file when required, use hand signals when turning, be courteous to other cyclist as well as motorized vehicles.

Emergency Procedures: In case of emergency call [to come].

Waiver: The liability waiver must be signed to complete registration.

Weather Policy: The ride goes on rain or shine! It’s early October, so it should be pleasant, but weather doesn’t always behave, so plan accordingly.
